This beautiful, creative music video by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis exhibits why gay rights are important, and how people are negatively affected by discrimination. They are peacefully advocating for equal treatment to men who love men and women who love women.

However, last week, a school teacher in North Carolina got in trouble for showing this video to students.

According to this article, “Alexander County Schools Associate Superintendent Dr. Jeff Peal told local outlet The Taylorsville Times that school officials deemed the “Same Love” video“inappropriate” and “outside the bounds of the curriculum.”

This is ridiculous. Really? How long will people remain homophobic? Just because they are not legally allowed to marry anywhere in the United States doesn’t make the amount of gay people in the United States, or even the world, any less.
